If you haven’t watched the Similac Mother ‘Hood commercial recently, you should (see clip at end of post). This hilarious commercial shows a true depiction of relationships between parents while enforcing underlying truth that all parents carry:
As a new mom I was drawn to this commercial as a great daily reminder in the midst of my tears (yes, I cried). A daily reminder that we are all seeking the same thing: To do the best we possibly can for our children.

Similac Mother ‘Hood Commercial got a lot of flack saying they are simply trying to sell their product. OF COURSE THEY ARE! They are a business and like any business you are trying to make wise choices for their brand and product. In my opinion Similac took a very relevant topic that a lot of us parents struggle with on a daily basis and made light of situations we all face while also reminding us to remember what is really important: our children. The commercial had me laughing and crying in two and half minutes.
The commercial touched on all different kinds of parents:
- The Stay-at-home Mom and the Working Mom
- Breastfeeding Moms and Formula Feeding Moms
- Cloth diapering and Disposable diapering
- Heterosexual families and Homosexual families
- Stay-at-home Dads/Involved Fathers
- The Baby wearing Mom and the Stroller Mom
- Home Birthing Moms
- Yoga Moms
Whether we believe in all these things or not, the message was that we are parents first. Parents before all these different types of moms and dads. I think from a formula company its wonderful to see the support to all types of parents.
